ESL TEACHER

The position of ESL Teacher is under the direct supervision of the Principal of AITIS. ESL Teacher will work for the benefit of the children of the AITIS.

The AITIS working hours are from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Teachers are not expected to take leave during the school time. Teachers are expected to observe a decent dress code.

ESL Teacherdevelops schemes of work and lesson plans in line with AITIS curriculum objectives. They facilitate learning by establishing a relationship with pupils and by their organization of learning resources and the classroom learning environment.

ESL Teachers develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children, according to age, ability and aptitude. They link pupils' knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further, and challenge and inspire pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.

Duties may include, but are not limited, to:

  • Planning work to cover all areas designed by the AITIS Curriculum
  • Offering children a secure environment that will promote their spiritual, moral, cultural, emotional, intellectual, physical and social development
  • Adapting teaching styles and strategies allow children to fulfill their potential and influence their own learning
  • Maintaining a stimulating and tidy learning environment where the children have easy access to materials and equipment
  • Monitoring and evaluating the on-going progress of the children, and keeping up-to-date records as agreed and designated by the Principal
  • Passing all records, reports and portfolio works to the next teacher to ensure smooth transition throughout the school years
  • Maintaining an on-going communication with parents, discussing with them the progress their children are making at Parent-Teacher Conferences and through a “chit-chat” book, homework note book or Friday folder
  • Grading and preparing written reports of students’ progress at the end of each term
  • Participating in regular staff meetings and other meetings necessary for the smooth running of the school
  • Contributing to the evaluation procedure for the Teacher Assistant
  • Behaving in a professional way that will demonstrate a responsibility towards children and AITIS in general
  • Contributing to the development of the AITIS

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education and/or Teaching Certificate
  • Experience in teaching English as a second language
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Flexibility and ability to use initiative
