CONTEXT
The AIT has begun an EU-financed project entitled: “Sustaining and Enhancing the Momentum for Innovation and Learning around the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in the Lower Mekong River Basin”. The main objective of the project is to contribute to enhance resilience of rainfed small-scale farmers of Lower Mekong region confronting climate change. The project is implemented in two provinces of Thailand i.e. Uttradit and Surin working with collaboration of local nonformal education departments, Ministry of Education, Royal Government of Thailand.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Working under supervision of the Team Leader and Regional Project Coordinator, PCU, Thailand, the Research and Training Assistant will:
- Provides day-day support to the Farmer’s Participatory Action Research (FPAR) trainings;
- Provide support in designing field experiment, setting data collectio protocols and ensure collection and compilation of field data and their eventual recording in project’s system;
- Develop scientific reports of the field experiments
- Adapt and translate training materials for the provincial training team of Thailand;
- Assist with development and translation of various documents from Thai-English or English-Thai including training curricula;
- Support training, data collection work in Lao PDR, if needed;
- Develop, liaise and maintain close working relationship with provincial offices of Department of Nonformal Education, Department of Rice, Department of Agriculture Extension (DoAE) and other relevant agencies, NGOs and organization working on similar areas;
- Assist with the organization of the field-day and other result sharing activities at project sites;
- Assist with the organization of the workshops at Provincial/Project /PCU offices on as and when need basis and prepare its report;
- Undertake any additional related duties as requested by Regional Coordinator.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate degree in Agriculture / Social Work or other relevant degree, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability in setting up field research, data collection, organizing workshops and other result-sharing events;
- Proven record of data entry in data base, data analysis and scientific report writing
- Good IT and communication skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
- Knowledge of a statistical software is a plus;
- Experience in building partnerships for learning and knowledge sharing;
- Good working knowledge of English and Thai languages
- Willing to travel and work upcountry at research sites in Northern and Northeastern Thailand
- Specialized knowledge of facilitating adult-learning based trainings e.g. Farmer’s Field School (FFS);
