The Research Associate will work as a member of the Regional Energy Resources Information Center (RERIC) (a Sustainable Energy Transition Program Publications Project) in the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Change, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), which is a leading international postgraduate institution offering engineering, environment and management education in English. The Research Associate will contribute to strengthening RERIC activities in publication, analytics and outreach. |
Overall Job Objective: To upgrade, upscale, and expand the activities and visibility of RERIC.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate preparations for organizing workshops, webinars, and international conferences.
- Coordinate with faculty members in conceptualizing the workshops/webinars and international conferences.
- Attend in meetings related to the preparations of the workshops/webinars and international conferences.
- Assist in keeping records, responding to emails and all other correspondence related to workshops/webinars, conferences being organized.
- Design and develop content for digital creative materials such as banners, flyers, newsletters, etc.
- Help improve visibility of the workshop/webinars and conference announcements in online portals.
- Help check possible collaborations/sponsorships for these RERIC events being organized.
- Be proactive in looking for opportunities to increase visibility and activities of RERIC.
- Assist in managing and maintaining the International Energy Journal (IEJ) with the aim of increasing the publication/articles of the IEJ.
- Must be knowledgeable in Open Journal System (OJS)
- To quickly learn the IEJ operations to be able to provide a workable suggestion on how to increase the publication/articles of IEJ.
- To help check what other reputable journals are doing to increase exposure
- Assist in searching for appropriate reviewers for papers submitted to the journal.
- Assist in closely monitoring the status of all IEJ paper submissions, to be able to send out timely reminders (to authors, reviewers) as needed.
- Facilitate publication of accepted papers
- Assist in maintaining all administrative and secretariat work for RERIC.
- Clear demonstration of pro-activeness in the RERIC activities and tasks.
- Maintaining records and communications with faculty, reviewers, etc.
- To work on initiating other new initiatives/activities to generate additional income for RERIC
- Create and maintain database on energy related issues and their dissemination.
- Conduct search and limited research to provide useful analysis on regional energy issues
Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree from leading university (Master’s degree is preferable) with interest in energy outreach
- Professional degree in digital marketing/skills would be an advantage.
- International experience in carrying out responsibilities that would be relevant for this position
- Interest and knowledge in energy, climate change, sustainability and related areas
- Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Excellent English proficiency with advanced English writing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong working relationships as a team player in a multicultural environment.
- Being proactive
Technical Skills:
- High level of digital proficiency in MS office, Excel, office facilities, promotion and social media related platform.
- Knowledge of content management system (CMS) such as WordPress, Web Developing, designing digital creatives, search engine marketing (SEM) would be an asset.
- Able to do mass mailings and able to use mass mailing tools in Outlook and Gmail.
- Able to analyze and interpret data
