The Transportation Engineering Program, School of Engineering and Technology, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is inviting applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The Asian Institute of Technology promotes technological change and sustainable development in the Asian-Pacific region through higher education, research and outreach. Established in Bangkok in 1959, AIT has become a leading regional postgraduate institution and is actively working with public and private sector partners throughout the region and with some of the top universities in the world. The Transportation Engineering program and research in the area provide advanced knowledge in transportation planning and economics, traffic engineering, and the design of highways/pavements and other transportation facilities. Transportation Engineering students acquire advanced skills concerning the planning, design, operations, maintenance, rehabilitation, performance, and evaluation of transportation systems, including their economic and public policy aspects. The field imbibes in each student the development of analytic, problem-solving, design, and management skills suitable for public and private sector professional work. AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons with specialization of Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering, which includes Traffic Safety, Transportation Logistics, Transportation Economic, and Sustainable Transportation, Experiences in the railway planning and development are preferable. JOB DESCRIPTION The position is for a full-time faculty with the following responsibilities: |
- To teach, guide and supervise student research at the Master and Ph.D. level.
- To undertake research and contract project individually or in collaboration with other faculty members.
- To develop and conduct short courses and other training activities within the framework of transportation planning/engineering and outreach activities.
- To contribute to academic administration and the organizing of professional activities such as seminars, conferences, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Prospective candidates should have a Ph.D. degree from a well-recognized institution or university with a strong research background and interest. Excellent record of publications in international journals, books, conferences, etc. and teaching and research experience would be considered. Related professional working experience in the public or private sector would be an added advantage. As the working language of AIT is English, the applicant must be fluent in both The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidates will be appointed at the earliest possible date, initially for a period of two years and is renewable, on two-year basis for Assistant Professor based on performance.
