General Function: This position is responsible for managing the Institute's financial and accounting systems and providing leadership in areas such as strategic finance operations and risk management. This position will work closely with the Vice President for Administration on strategic initiatives as well as financial reporting to the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. This position will be responsible for overseeing accurate financial reporting, budget monitoring, on-time auditor reporting, recording transactions, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and analyzing monthly financial statements with an eye towards process improvement to gain efficiencies and strengthen internal controls. |
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Regulating, supervising and implementing a timely, full and accurate set of accounting books by funds of the Institute reflecting all its activities in a manner commensurate with the relevant legislation and regulation in the territories of operation of the Institute and subject to internal guidelines set from time to time by the Audit Committee, Executive Committee and Board of Trustees.
- Directing financial planning and strategy including analyzing and reporting on financial performance.
- Overseeing audit and tax functions.
- Developing and implementing accounting policies.
- Preparing forecasts and comprehensive budgets for the final approval of the Board of Trustees in accordance with an annual budget by funds, and other budgets like– capital expenditures/ investment, financial plans, business plans and all other financial and business documents as may be required from time to time by the Board.
- Reviewing departmental budgets.
- Managing internal control systems to monitor the financial activities of the Institute, its flow of funds, the adherence to the budget, the expenditures, the revenues and other budgetary items.
- Manage, prepare, and present financial statements and reports as required by all pertinent regulations in the countries of the operations of the Institute to the Audit Committee, Executive Committee and to the Board of Trustees as well as other necessary reports as required from time to time by the Committees.
- Participate in strategic and operational investment decision-making, whether financial or other, conducive to the financial health, the growth prospects and the fulfillment of investment plans of the Institute.
- To comply with all reporting, accounting and audit requirements.
- Alerting and reporting to the Institute management and next to the Audit Committee, Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees regarding any irregularity, lack of compliance, lack of adherence and problems whether actual or potential concerning the financial systems, the financial operations, the financing plans, the accounting, the audits, the budgets and any other matter of a financial nature or which could or does have a financial implication.
- Collaborating and coordinating the activities of outside suppliers of financial services hired or contracted by the Institute, including accountants, auditors and financial consultants and other financial venues.
- To maintain and develop a working relationship with banks and financial institutions with the aim of securing the best offer of investment return, securing any funds necessary for the operations of the Institute where necessary in the future.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics. Master’s degree holder is preferred.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting & finance with a proven track record of leading teams and managing operations
Skills:
- Strong in financial modelling and strong background in financial planning and strategy.
- Proficient in accounting/finance operations; financial statements analysis, and interpretation.
- Excellent in analyzing and reporting on financial performance
- Analytical and decision-making abilities; high in attention to detail, well-organized and with a sense of urgency.
- Proficiency in a variety computerized accounting programs. Advanced Excel user, comfortable operating in an environment with multiple finance systems.
- Excellent command of Thai and English is required
