The ICT Department is searching for experienced candidates for the position of lab supervisor. Responsibilities:
Server and Virtualization Management:
- Establish and maintain server infrastructure to ensure smooth operation.
- Oversee the management of server resources, including storage, virtualization, and network connectivity.
- Provide support and assistance to students, faculty, and staff in utilizing server resources for their projects and research.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of virtualization tools and software for data analysis and visualization purposes.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to procure necessary server equipment and licenses.
Security and Authentication:
- Implement and enforce security protocols to protect the systems and data.
- Manage user authentication and access control systems to ensure only authorized individuals can access the laboratory resources.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks and threats.
- Stay updated with the latest security practices and technologies to proactively mitigate security breaches.
- Provide training and awareness sessions on security best practices to lab users.
- Collaborate with the IT department to implement and maintain firewall configurations, intrusion detection systems, and other security measures.
Data Management and Backup:
- Develop and implement data management procedures for the ICT department laboratory, ensuring proper storage, organization, and backup of data.
- Establish backup and recovery mechanisms to prevent data loss and ensure data integrity.
- Monitor and manage storage systems to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to establish data retention policies and comply with data protection regulations.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in working with hardware/software components for server management including webserver, database, file server etc.
- Expertise in managing the hypervisor machines like Docker, Hyper-V, VMware, and Proxmox.
- Expertise in using the Linux operating system both of command and services, FreeBSD, Unix, and Windows Server operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of scripting languages, Python, Perl, Java, etc. as well as programming languages.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure, including routing, security policy, Mac address, IP DHCP nooping, ARP inspection, Dot1x, and VLANs.
- Familiarity with server services such as DHCP, Firewall, Active Directory Domain, Radius, VPN, logs server, SQL service, MongoDB, LDAP, web services (e.g., nginx/Apache/IIS), file sharing systems (e.g., Samba/NAT/SAN/NFS), and HADOOP with Backup.
- Good knowledge of internet security principles, data privacy regulations, and best practices.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering/IT or related fields.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Strong experience as a system administrator/engineer or in a relevant position.
- Proficiency in English communication.
