General  Summary

Under general supervision, provides support to the lab supervisor and lab technician in the daily operation and maintenance of the hydraulics laboratory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the laboratory supervisor in the preparation, construction and installation of experimental set-ups in the laboratory.
  • Provide general support to students in their laboratory experiments as part of their coursework or research.
  • Assist the laboratory supervisor and faculty in the conduct of regular laboratory courses.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of the hydraulics laboratory facilities (repair leaking pipes, repair leaking flumes and channels, repairs and or modify and upgrade experimental set-ups).
  • Maintain the overall physical appearance (cleanliness, safety, proper arrangement of lab facilities) of the laboratory.
  • Provide support in the conduct of sponsored research projects undertaken by WEM laboratory (physical model construction and test set-up installation).
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the laboratory supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Education Level – Diploma or High School
  • Some skills in masonry, carpentry, welding and steel fabrication works.
  • Ability to understand basic English language.
  • Ability to relate well with people of various nationalities.
