The Geoinformatics Center (GIC) is seeking a Researcher to support its operations. The incumbent will contribute to implementing donor-funded projects and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals. An initial contract of one year will be given with a probation period of six months.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Remote Sensing and GIS, Computer Science or related fields
Skills and Capabilities
- Conversant with Remote Sensing and GIS tools and techniques and their applications in natural resources management, climate and disaster risk management etc.
- Programming skills in Python.
- Understanding of machine learning will be an advantage.
- Good writing skills for developing high-quality concept notes/proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement donor-funded projects.
- Developing concept notes/proposals and identifying suitable sources of funding. Carrying out research and gathering information from diverse sources for developing high-quality concept notes/proposals.
- Initiate and coordinate outreach activities and conduct workshops and seminars.
- Conduct training and capacity-building activities.
- Perform other duties as may be required to implement the activities of the Geoinformatics Center.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in project implementation. Experience in project implementation in developing countries will be an advantage. Experience in implementing capacity-building activities is desirable.
