AIT is looking for an innovative, strategic, and outstanding leader to join the senior leadership team as the Vice President for Academic and Research (VPAR). The VPAR reports to the President and is responsible for guiding the direction of academic and degree programs at AIT. This role involves both evaluating existing programs and research strengths, as well as developing new and innovative programs to enhance AIT's positioning. The VPAR will take the lead on all matters related to the educational, academic, research and outreach operations of the institute. To successfully fulfill the role, the ideal candidate should have a proven history of leadership in higher education, strategic planning, and academic management to perform the following duties. |
- Provide visionary leadership to coordinate and support academic activities, including teaching, research, and outreach.
- Develop a plan to continuously improve the quality of teaching and learning quality, along with policies and procedures that uphold AIT's academic standards, aiming for continuous improvement in alignment with the institute’s strategic direction.
- Develop a fair faculty recruitment process and performance assessment system for professional growth and employment decisions such as renewal, promotion and salary adjustment.
- Formulate and implement student recruitment and enrollment management systems to ensure the quality of incoming students and the robustness of the tuition revenue stream.
- Oversee the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) for admission management and scholarship initiatives, and ensure the overall efficiency of OSA operations, including student welfare.
- Identify research priorities aligned with AIT's focus areas, emphasizing research activities in cutting-edge technologies relevant to regional needs.
- Develop mechanisms to enhance the Institute's research innovation capacity, including identifying and obtaining external and internal funding for research.
- Facilitate working relationships among various constituents on campus which promote quality research, and create new programs and research aligned with AIT's business goals.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and policies, and ensure ethical conduct in research.
Qualifications:
- The VPAR candidate must be academically well-qualified, holding a Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in a teaching discipline, higher education administration or closely related field.
- Has served in a senior academic administrative position or a similar role, showing an interest in education, research, and management.
- A strong communicator and interpersonal capabilities to enable collaboration across the AIT campus, with our alumni, and with international networks.
- Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with a diverse population while understanding and respecting each other’s view of the world, personalities and working styles.
- Conduct oneself in a manner consistent with the Institute’s standards of ethical conduct.
- Utilize effective techniques to build collaborative relationships with others to achieve shared goals; communicate openly and work together to reach objectives.
- Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement.
