The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) promotes technological change and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region through higher education, research and outreach. Established in 1959, AIT is an autonomous, international postgraduate institution situated 42 km north of Bangkok. Faculty, researchers, staff and students come from around 45 countries and form a unique international community. Students are admitted to its three schools – Engineering and Technology; Environment, Resources and Development; and Management. AIT has graduated more than 26,000 alumni now taking up leadership positions in government, academia, businesses, and regional and international organizations/institutions in more than 100 countries around the world. Qualification and Requirements: AIT seeks a qualified professional and outstanding individual who will provide the leadership required for the position of Vice President for Administration and Development (VPAD) and who is motivated to join a graduate education institution about to embark on a re-positioning of introducing innovation in education across the board. The Vice President for Administration and Development will be on the senior leadership team of the Institute and shall report directly to the President. The VPAD is expected to envisage strong leadership qualities, responsible for the development, and implementation of strategic and sustainable plans at all levels of administrative operations. This position requires extensive linkages and networks among institutions and society that will enhance the business opportunities of AIT. The VPAD will work with the President on streamlining non-academic services on campus. The VPAD candidate must be well-qualified in terms of education and relevant experience. This includes holding an advanced degree from an accredited institution. The candidate should have substantial administrative and financial experience, either in a higher education institution or a large corporation. If the candidate comes from a corporate background, they must have a solid understanding of operations within an academic institution. Additionally, the candidate must have strong leadership and management skills, along with a proven ability to drive organizational transformation. Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, are essential. The candidate should also possess analytical and problem-solving abilities to support sound strategic decision-making, value diverse perspectives, share information promptly, and maintain professionalism. Prior experience in assessing organizational needs and developing and implementing policies, systems, and processes is also required. |
Key Responsibilities:
- To plan, organize and coordinate all activities of budget, finance, procurement, facilities administration, human resources management and development, and student services.
- To develop and implement a comprehensive new business development strategy that aligns with the AIT's overall strategic goals, academic strengths and mission.
- To develop ways of enhancing the multicultural environment in AIT. Will have strategic oversight and management of a comprehensive business development effort in support of the President’s revenue generating priorities.
- To identify aid policies and programs of partner governments, international organizations, industry, etc. Initiate and enhance strategic partnerships with leading universities/institutions in the region and worldwide.
- To set development agenda, deploy development resources, establish development goals and oversee development operations across the Institute.
- To secure additional sources of revenue, complementing the revenue stream from teaching putting more efforts towards non-tuition revenue generation. Utilize the Institute’s international status, to further enhance resource mobilization efforts.
- To work collaboratively with other departments, including admissions, marketing, finance, and alumni relations, to ensure alignment and integration of business development initiatives with the broader institutional goals.
